Septorhinoplasty is a mix of two kinds of surgeries, i.e. septoplasty and rhinoplasty. The one performed on the nose to enhance external look is called rhinoplasty and the one performed on nose septum (a nasal tissue lying between the nostrils inside the nose) to resolve internal breathing problems is called septoplasty.

What are the benefits of this surgery?

Septorhinoplasty is done in order to rectify any birth defects or accident causalities that restrict breathing or causes nose blockage. It not only improves the look of your nose but also resolves all your breathing and obstruction issues. Septorhinoplasty can also help with the alteration of the width and height of your nasal bridge or can help support the droopyness or floppiness of your nasal tip or nostrils respectively. Apart from correcting breathing disorders, it also helps in enhancing the look and feel of your nose by improving its projection with respect to other features of your face and also by elongating the base of your nose in case necessary.

Who can consider undergoing the surgery?

People who have breathing problems or who want to enhance their appearance can have the surgery. So, if you have breathing difficulties through your nose, or feel certain kind of obstruction or blockage in your nose along with having a septum deviation issue or cooked nose feature, then you are the right person to get this surgery done.

What is the procedure for the surgery?

After a deep analysis and examination of your nasal disorders via advanced and computerized software, a well planned strategy is built and explained in order to rectify your problem. The surgeons will give you a general anaesthesia for sedation. This surgery may be performed in two ways: First is endonasal, which means that small cuts will be placed from inside the nose along the bridge in order to rectify appearance related issues; second is open technique in which tiny v – shaped incisions are placed on the septum of the nose. The incisions are successfully closed with sutures and you will be discharged from the hospital after few hours of the surgery with a cast or a splint tied across your nose to keep the nose in proper shape and condition.
